Hi friends, let’s talk about lip smacking Hyderabadi
dish, Nawabi Paneer, with a rich and flavorful gravy using onions, ginger, garlic, whole spices
and yogurt and creamy gravy of nuts and
spices. Nawabi Paneer is a popular as well as non-spicy, creamy Hyderabadi dish
made up of cottage cheese and cashews-almonds
paste. The use of cashews nuts, almonds and poppy seeds or khus khus enhances the richness of the gravy.

INGREDIANTS
Cottage cheese (paneer) 400gm
Poppy seeds (paste)
2 teaspoon poppy seeds (khus khus)
10 cashews
10 almonds
1 tablespoon Cumin seeds (Shah Jeera)
2 Bay Leaf (Tej patta)
3 Green cardamom
4 Cloves
1Cinnamon stick (dalchini)
2 tablespoon ghee
5 Green Chilli(slit)
2 medium size onion (paste)
2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
½ cup Yogurt
(curd)
1 tablespoon black pepper powder
Salt (According to taste)
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon kewra water
Saffron few strands (optional)
1 tablespoon Fenugreek
Leaves (Kasuri methi)

How to make Nawabi paneer with step by step photo
1. Soak
poppy seeds, cashews and almonds for 1/2 hour and peel the almonds.
2. In
a blender , make a smooth paste of medium size onion, soaked poppy seeds,
cashews and almonds.
3. Heat a deep sauce pan and add ghee, In the same pan or kadai, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, green cardamom, cloves and cinnamon stick in it.
4. Saute
it well and cook till aromatic.
5. Add
slit green chilli and saute it for a few minutes.
6. Add the chopped onions and ginger garlic paste and continue to cook until
the onions turn transparent. This will take about 3-4 minutes.
7. Now,
add cashew almonds paste and mix it well.
8. Stir and cook till it light golden colour.
9. Now,
we add yogurt and cook for 3 to 4 minutes continuously.
10. Now, add salt and black pepper powder.
11. Now, add 1 cup milk and cook for 2-3 minutes.
13. Switch
off the flame and add kewra water and gives good aroma in it.
14. If you have saffron trends, add it as it gives nice yellow colour. Finally, Serve hot nawabi paneer with naan, paratha and rice.
Tips:
- If you want to make more rich gravy, you can add the peas, bell pepper, water, coriander leaves and bring it to a boil. Turn off the flame, transfer the Nawabi Curry into a serving dish and top with the cooked paneer pieces.
